Evaluation

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Overall i would have to say that the progression was significantly high at first we had no idea what the terms and techniques needed in order to create a full short film. further we progressed as a whole in working together as a team in order to create a final product. So our team worker skills had improved a lot during the pre production series.
further looking back at the preliminary task our structure had improved.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of construction?

Not only were we able to produce a full length of two minute film we were able to gain a full understanding of the filming process and key terms and techniques used in final cut express and adobe after effects this means we were able to learn about lighting and key frames that are very essential on any video editing software. Therefore when it comes to another task that will involve pre production and filming then I would have enough experience to create it success.

Audience Feedback
Here is a video of our audience feedback

Explain problems with adobe say how you overcame them and how you worked around the parameters of your capabilities?

How did you Attract/address your target audience?

I had addressed the target audience through the use of surveys and questionnaires in order to gain a full understanding of what the audience wanted through their demographics. Further the plot was based around the streets of south london and we wanted to portray the harsh realities that befall each and every single one of us that live in south london. Hence our short film is similar to the existing products like shank and kidulthood. Therefore our target audience is youths around the age of 16- 25 years old.

How does your media product represent particular social group?

This particular media product represent the social group of young teenagers surrounded by violence in there  hometown, therefore it represent typical gang culture among youths whether they should conform or not to the pressure of their peers. The opening shows the protagonist to be a gang member who is constantly involved in gang culture and warfare, the rest of the plot sets out to go deeper to understand the reasons for this and also convey how people can change in the future. The social Group however of our product mainly focuses around 16 - 19 years old.

In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?

l in all, the beginning of our movie starts off very well. Our inspiration came from movies such as Kidulthood and One Day where directors such as Noel Clarke are well known for using simple yet effective camera shots. Because of the urban undertones, our product can be categorised with other urban dramas that also realistically reflect urban strife.

The mise-en-scene was very important when filming our location. This is because the environment is important to create the bleak look we wanted to achieve for the film.  For example on the picture above there is a billboard displaying bright red and yellow colours. This would would intervene with the mood our scene has created before this shot as bright primary colours are associated with happiness and joy therefore it might cause the viewer to take the scene less seriously. Had this been thoroughly organised, the sign could have been temporarily removed to create a more authentic mis-en-scene.

Here in this emotional scene taken from a part of kidulthood (no copyright infringement intended) it shows the characters walking through the crowded city at night. Bright primary colours are kept to a minimum and this increases the viewers perception of dark gloomy colours such as dull browns and greys.

The Production name

I had created the the production name with the aid of adobe effects. My limitations were that it had been the first time I had used this software at the same time it was a positive because it enabled me develop more skills in computer graphics and visual effects. But to create the piece was so time consuming, however as I progressed I had got a lot better and experienced in using the software.

Here is the final draft for the production name Astro Productions.

Damien (mid shot) outside his house getting ready to walk out

(Match on action shot) Damien presses play on his phone which is synchronized with the non diagetic music

Damien is walking through his town roads

Damien sees two youths trying to rob a person

Damien walks away but he stops for a moment and has second thoughts on whether he should help or not

Damien is about to intervene with the confrontation and this is where the opening scene cuts and we see the title of the movie

Anid used an electronic smartboard to create these images as they would has stood out much better than pen and paper when put on the computer.

Grime Instrumental 2009

The type of music used in this scene is a "grime" instrumental. Grime music is associated with culture mainly in South London.
